well! it's finally happened!! i've found a place on campus!! i've made friends here!!! yippee!!!!! i don't want to get too excited just yet (it's only been a couple of days...) but omg!!! omgomgomg!!! YES!!!!!!
there's an autonomous union that's been working on organizing things on campus (especially regarding hate speach, marginalized students' safety, and protests/direct action). i didn't even know about them until a couple days ago, but i had seen them around at some other meetings and things i'd attended. i finally went to an actual meeting today, and it was so wonderful!! it wasn't so big that it would be overwhelming, but not so small that it was awkward. everyone there seemed like they had the same worldview as me, and i really felt safe somewhere on campus for the first time :]
i'm really really excited to start getting involved in helping make this campus a safer place for marginalized students (especially since the campus doesn't want to do it themselves :/). i've had some pretty scary experiences here due to the fact that i'm very openly trans and queer and... i didn't expect that other people would have noticed, or cared, that queer people were not safe here. it's really nice not to feel so alone anymore :]]]
i had dinner with a couple people from the union and it was super fun!! truth be told, i don't think i've ever had dinner with that many people in my time at this college. everyone was really welcoming, passionate about what they were doing, and just overall super sweet. it was awesome!!! i'm so so so happy to finally feel at home somewhere!!!!!
in other news, everything else is great too!! classes have been going well, i've been spending less time in my dorm room, i've been getting more comfortable with socializing on my own... things are looking up for once!! it's almost a shame since winter break is coming up lolol. i also revamped testtubesterone so now it looks super cool B] i really love it <3
i'm just going to keep my head up and push through these next couple weeks of finals, and then i'm home free!! i'm so glad i can finally share a happy update here!! i hope things are going well for you too.
